The Carrington Youth Fellowship Initiative (CYFI), founded in 2011 under the auspices of the U.S. Consulate General in Lagos, invites applications for its 2023 cohort. Structured as an intensive, community-focused professional development program, CYFI targets individuals in the early to mid-stages of their professional careers. By channeling the exceptional talents, skills, and experiences of young Nigerian professionals, CYFI aims to foster projects that yield transformative effects on Nigerian society.
The Legacy of Walter Carrington: Ideas into Action
This pioneering initiative derives its name and ethos from Walter Carrington, a former Ambassador to Nigeria from the United States. Carrington was a fervent advocate of civil liberties, democratic governance, and strengthening the bilateral relations between Nigeria and the United States. In homage to his lifelong dedication, the CYFI fellowship serves as a practical medium through which fellows can translate Carrington’s ideals into actionable change within their communities.
CYFI Fellowship Benefits: Skills, Networks, and Mentorship
Fellows benefit from a meticulously designed curriculum that focuses on developing core leadership abilities, communication proficiency, and adeptness in program management.
Moreover, this fellowship provides an unparalleled platform for expanding one’s professional network, thereby offering avenues for potential future collaborations and partnerships.
The CYFI program doesn’t just offer theoretical knowledge; it provides each fellow with targeted mentorship, thus enriching their professional journeys with experiential learning and personal growth.
