Department of Rural Development & Land Reform Bursary
The Department of Rural Development and Land Reform (DRDLR), established in 2009, is a department of the South African government. The Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform is responsible for the department. The DRDLR are responsible for land reform; deeds registration; cadastral surveying and topographic mapping.
The Department’s mission is to initiate, as well as facilitate, coordinate and implement rural development programmes.

- Land Surveying/ Geomatics (BSc)
- Town and Regional Planning/ Urban Design (BSc)

- Surveying/ Cartography (National Diploma)
- Town and Regional Planning (National Diploma)
The bursary award will cover the following expenses: tuition fees, registration fees, textbooks, meals, accommodation and a living allowance.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying (please note that failure to satisfy all the requirements will lead to your application not being considered):
- South African citizen
- Completed Matric OR currently in Matric
- Studying or planning to study full-time within one of the aforementioned fields of study
- BSc in Land Surveying/ Geomatics students: passed Mathematics and Physical Science in Matric
- BSc in Town and Regional Planning/ Urban Design students: passed Mathematics, Geography and/or Physical Science in Matric
- BSc/BA in Geo-Informatics/ Geographic Information Science students: passed Mathematics and Physical Science in Matric
- National diploma in Surveying/ Cartography students: passed Mathematics and Physical Science in Matric
- National diploma in Town and Regional Planning students: passed Mathematics and/or Physical Science and Geography in Matric
