University of Benin (UNIBEN) Jamb Cut Off Marks

Spread the love

The University of Benin is unarguably one of the best Universities in Nigeria. Following the release of a general cut off mark by Jamb (160 for Universities), you may be wondering what Uniben cut off is going to be for this year.

The minimum Cut Off Mark set by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB for university admission is 160. If your score is below 160, you may just forget about your university dream or wait for the next JAMB or apply for other programmes.

Unfortunately, the University of Benin (UNIBEN) still doesn’t accept 160 Jamb cut off mark. The UNIBEN cut off mark is a score of 200 or above for all courses. With a score of 200, you can sit for Post UTME in any course or department so long Uniben is concerned.

UNIBEN Cut Off Mark for JAMB (What Do We Mean)

A Cut off mark is a minimum score that is required by an institution for admission of students into her various departments. The Cut Off Mark is usually determined by the results of the students who sat for the entrance examination.

In some cases, the student is required to meet the Cut Off Mark of his or her preferred university (general cut off) and that of the course applied for (departmental cut off).

In order for a student to sit for UNIBEN post UTME examination, the student should have scored 200 or above as required by the University. If you scored below 200 in JAMB and your preferred university is UNIBEN, simply buy a change of institution form.

Is A Score of 200 Enough For Uniben?

Edoaffairs has been able to establish that the University of Benin cut off mark is simply 200. However, this score doesn’t guarantee your admission.

For very competitive courses like Medicine, Engineering, Accounting, Law and Business Admin, you need a very high post UTME score to compensate for your Jamb score. If your post UTME Score isn’t enough to rescue your Jamb score, then you may not gain admission.

Note that scoring 200 in JAMB does not guarantee automatic admission into the institution. There are a lot of candidates who scored higher than you in JAMB. The only opportunity you have now is to score high in post UTME. You can’t afford to stay at home for another year.

What to do If your Score is Below 200

If you don’t score up to 200, simply change school or apply for Alevelprogram. A lot of students think that they cannot secure admission into the university if they’re don’t write. The reality is that you can secure admission into Nigerian universities without JAMB.

Below are the two programmes Edo Affairs will be introducing to you;

  1. Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB) and
  2. Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB)

The above programmes can be completed within a year and the good thing is that admission is straight to 200level. If you did not meet up to UNIBEN Cut Off Mark for JAMB, you should consider JUPEB and not IJMB because University of Benin, UNIBEN do not accept IJMB.

However, if you want to secure admission into other universities you can consider IJMB because of their low fees. Do you have any question on UNIBEN Cut Off Mark for JAMB? Don’t fail to let us know using the comment box.
