The 2019/2020 JAMB cut off mark for the university of Benin (UNIBEN) has been released. The 2019 JAMB cut off mark for UNIBEN 200. But before we go further on the topic, let me quickly explain what cut off mark really means.

 

What does cut off mark really mean?

Cut off mark is one of the most important criteria for admission into any tertiary institution in Nigeria.

The Cut off mark for a particular school or course is simply the minimum score you must have,to get admitted. Cut off marks come in two phases:

  • General cut off mark: This is the JAMB cut off mark set by the school. All candidates who wish to apply for a particular must score above or the exact JAMB cut off mark set by the school to be considered for admission by such school.
  • Departmental cut off mark: This is set by the school senate based on the performance of candidates applying for a particular course. So, departmental cut off mark for each course is dependent on both the performance of candidates and the number of candidates applying to a course.

NOTE:  The fact that you met the general cut off mark does not guarantee admission. You admission is 100% sure when you meet the jamb and departmental cut off marks.

How to calculate UNIBEN Aggregate score

Most candidates have been asking a lot of questions on how their aggregate score will be calculated. This will be explained now.

In 2017, JAMB introduced the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) which has made it possible for to be able to ACCEPT/REJECT admission offers. Along side this, they introduced a 50:50 system for calculating aggregate scores. Meaning JAMB will take 50% and the POST UTME will also take 50%.

Steps in calculating UNIBEN Aggregate

1. Divide your JAMB score by 8 (JAMB/8)

2. Divide your post utme score by 2 (PUTME/2)

3. Add the two results together to know your aggregate

Now let’s calculate the aggregate of a boy who score 325 in JAMB and 80 in post utme.

1. Jamb/8= 325/8= 40.625

2. PUTME/2 =80/2= 40

3. Aggregate score = 40.625+40= 80.625

 

NOTE: O’level results are not used in the calculation of aggregates.

 

 

UNIBEN Departmental Cut off Mark 2019/2020
